Spatburgunder Trocken by Messer is a pale yellow in appearance. Aromas of peach, floral, and honey burst with vibrancy. The spatburgunder is an off-dry style, high in acidity, and light bodied. Stone fruit like peaches and apricots flavors are predominant, while floral and honey notes shine through. The texture of the wine has an almost carbonated mouthfeel. I would pair this with a spinach salad tossed with apricots, goat cheese, and hazelnuts dressed in pear vinaigrette.
ReplyDeleteSaar Riesling, Selbach, Spätlese, 2009 10%
ReplyDeleteSaar Riesling from Selbach is a delicious white wine. It dons a beautiful gold color, with aromas and flavors of citrus and fruit. This medium bodied wine is dry with high acidity, but still has a light and refreshing intensity. Saar would accompany spicy shrimp stir-fry with rice very nicely.

Messer 2005 Spätburgunder Trocken 13%
ReplyDeleteThis Spätburgunder by Messer is a clear pale straw in color. On the nose you get a medium intensity of minerals, lychee, citrus, and floral. This off dry medium body wine has nice short finish with medium acidity. The great flavors you get from this wine are mineral, citrus, fruits such as lychee, mangosteen, grape, and raisin. I would pair firey beef to contract the sweet and spicy but the fruit flavor will marry with the spicy of the dish.

Selbach 2009 Saar Riesling Spätlese 10%
ReplyDeleteThe Selbach Spatlese Riesling is a straw pale gold wine with a beautiful nose and flavors to accompany it. The aromas are floral and fruity which include white peach and apricot. The palate has tastes of pear, peach, and apricot. The finish does not disappoint and it will linger for some time. With its off dry sweetness and high acidity, this wine will pair excellently with a cheese plate appetizer that includes sweet nuts and jams.

Martinshof 2007 Weinviertal DAC Grüner Veltliner 12.5%
ReplyDeleteThe Martinshof 2007 Winviertal DAC Gruner Veltliner is medium gold in color. On the nose the wines true mineral and earthy qualities come out. There were tastes of ripe citrus fruits, oranges, grapefruit, lemon, and red apple as well as wood chips and minerals. This wone would be great paired with a grilled tomato, pesto, and mozarella sandwich.
