Pinot Grigio, Pighin, Collio DOC, 2008 13%
ReplyDeletePighin Pinot Grigio from Collio is a flavorful white wine. It is a pale lemon color, and is light and refreshing on the palate. This wine has aromas of fruit and fresh cut grass. On the palate this wine has flavors of citrus, green apple, and a little bit of earthiness. Pighin Pinot Grigio is a dry wine with high acid and would pair wonderfully with chicken franchise and sautéed green beans.
Amber Cassone
Colle del Sole from Casteli di Jesi Classico Superiore produces a Verdicchio, which is light in color. The appearance is a lemon color with hints of green. Scents of lemon and green apple fill the glass with bright hints of floral aromas. This Verdicchio is a dry style with a medium body. Flavors of herbs, citrus, and floral come through in the wine, with a vibrant mineral characteristic. I would pair this wine with a spicy tuna tartare, the spice from the dish with the floral notes in the wine would compliment each other nicely.
ReplyDeleteSartori 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella 14.5%
ReplyDeleteThe amarone was almost a deep ruby in color with a medium intensity on the nose. The aromas you get are apricot, raisin, plum, spice and oak. The great tastes on the plate are spice, raisin, plum, bread and oak. This win has a nice medium body with medium tannins. This dry wine has medium acidity, and all the tastes on the plate are a medium intensity. This would pair well with roast pheasant with purple plum sauce.
Mionetto Prosecco Brut 11%
ReplyDeleteMionetto Prosecco is a crisp light dry sparkling white wine that is an excellent way to start off a meal. The color is a pale straw gold with playful aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit, apple peel, and mineral notes. The palate has fuller bubbles with tastes very similar to the aromas such as grapefruit but also light orange and white peach. The finish is short but the acidity is what makes this wine so great with food. Try it with pan seared crispy sardines accompanied by a light lemon caper sauce.

Michele Chiarlo 2008 Moscatto D'Asti 5%
ReplyDeleteMichele Chiarlo Moscato D'Asti is a slightly sparkling, medium sweet wine. The nose brings forth notes of orange blossoms, and tropical fruits. This Moscato brings notes of tropical fruits and melons wit light honey and slight acidity.

Mionetto Prosecco is a sparkling white wine that is light, crisp, and refreshing on the palate. There are an abundance of citrus, lemon, pineapple, and mineral scents and on the palate. This wine would pair very well with oysters on the half shell.
